Howdy y’all! Jake here, back on my porch with a glass of sweet tea that’s sweeter than my mama’s pecan pie. I been spendin’ some time on this here website called ALT.com, and let me tell you, it’s a walk on the wild side.
Now, ALT.com ain’t your run-of-the-mill dating site. This is for folks with a bit more… spice in their recipe, if you catch my drift. It’s for people who are into all sorts of alternative lifestyles and kinks. It’s like the regular dating sites went to Mardi Gras and came back with a whole new attitude. A simple feller like me was feelin’ a bit like a cat in a room full of rockin’ chairs when I first signed up, but I was curious, so I dove in headfirst.
Let me tell y’all about the good stuff first, the pros. First off, you can be honest about what you’re lookin’ for. Nobody’s beatin’ around the bush on this site. People lay their cards on the table right from the get-go, which I appreciate. Saves a whole lot of time and heartache. Second, the search features are more detailed than my grandma’s quilt. You can find folks who are into exactly the same things you are, no matter how peculiar. It’s like findin’ a needle in a haystack, except the needle’s got a flashlight and it’s wavin’ at you. Third, I’ll be darned if there ain’t a community feelin’ to it. There’s forums and groups and whatnot, where folks chat about their interests. It’s kinda like a big, weird, but mostly friendly family reunion.
But it ain’t all peaches and cream, let me tell ya. The cons… well, first off, some of them profiles are wilder than a buckin’ bronco. You’ll see things that’ll make you scratch your head and wonder what in the tarnation is goin’ on in this world. Second, it can be a mighty expensive hobby. They want you to pay for just about every dadgum thing. Want to send more than a few messages? That’ll cost ya. Want to see who’s lookin’ at your profile? Better open up your wallet. Third, sometimes you’ll be messagin’ back and forth with someone, and you think you’re gettin’ somewhere, but then they just disappear. Ghost you, like a ghost in one of them haunted houses at the county fair.
Now let me tell y’all a little story about my own experience with ALT.com. A few months back, I was browsin’ around, just seein’ what was out there. I came across this profile of a lady named Raven. Now she was somethin’ else. Dark hair, dark eyes, and a look that said she was trouble with a capital T. Her profile said she was into all sorts of things I’d only ever heard whispered about in the locker room at the gym.
I decided to send her a message, just to see what would happen. I didn’t expect nothin’ to come of it, but lo and behold, she wrote back. We started messagin’ back and forth, and let me tell you, our conversations were… enlightenin’. She was tellin’ me about her world, and I was tellin’ her about mine, which seemed about as excitin’ as a dial-up modem in comparison.
After a week or so of talkin’, we decided to meet up at this little coffee shop in the next town over. I was nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockin’ chairs, but I figured, what the heck, life’s short.
Well, I get to the coffee shop, and I’m sittin’ there waitin’, and in walks this woman who looked nothin’ like her pictures. I mean, this was not Raven. This was a fella named Bob who worked at the local hardware store. He sat down across from me, took a sip of his coffee, and said, “Hey there, Jake. It’s me, Raven.”
Well, I about choked on my own tongue. Turns out, Bob was just pretendin’ to be Raven on the site ’cause he was too shy to be himself. He said he liked talkin’ to me and wanted to meet, but he was afraid I wouldn’t talk to him if I knew he was a fella.
I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or call the sheriff, but I ended up just sittin’ there for a while, talkin’ to poor ol’ Bob. We had a decent conversation, but it wasn’t exactly what I was expectin’ when I signed up for ALT.com, I’ll tell you that much.
So there you have it, folks. ALT.com is a wild ride, that’s for sure. It’s a place where you can be yourself, or someone else entirely, I reckon. It’s got its ups and downs, but it ain’t never borin’. If you’re lookin’ for a little adventure and you ain’t afraid of a few surprises, it might be worth a look. Just be prepared for anythin’, ’cause on ALT.com, you just might get it.
Now if y’all will excuse me, this sweet tea’s gettin’ warm and I think I hear my barbecue callin’ my name. Y’all take care now, ya hear?
